Hi Air! Thank you so much for your comment. I'm glad the Anne of Green Gables comparison made sense! I read your review of Annie John and I totally agree that the conflict between Annie and her mother feels lukewarm and lacks depth. I look forward to reading your future reviews. I really like your layout too, especially the navigation. The window frames (?) are such cool ingresses to your pages.

Hi Air! Thanks for your sweet message, glad you enjoyed my reviews and I love yours as well, I read a couple and I like your style of writing, really grabbed my attention... I find non-fiction books a drag sometimes but it has made me want to give it a try again. I also like the layout of the page, cute with the popover. Have a great day!

Aw, thank you so much for your reply myrtletribe :-) I'm glad you liked them! I used to heavily dislike nonfiction, but I think it was just because I associated them with either textbooks or pop science / self help stuff. If you'd like I have some recommendations! Have you read Entangled Life by Martin Sheldrake? I think you'd like it since you enjoy ecology, it's a series of essays on mycelium, each one starts out with a story and elaborates on a different point of interest about them, like the potential they hold for further study, their place in history, what they say about the world at large etc. Also, 'A Flat Place' is excellent both as a sort-of nature writing, where the author largely talks about trauma through stories about landscapes and sites in Britain, their history, and uses them as a metaphor for whatever broader topic she's discussing. Also your reply had me go exploring on your site again and I just noticed you draw and paint! I lovee how you do profiles, they are so unique and full of character, I think you can see the personality of each character shine out in particular with them. Especially the eyes. Hope you have a good day too!

is being in law a good field? im thinking of going into it after college.

The biggest downside is the high pressure, work volume, and strict deadlines. I think working in a humanitarian area of the law has helped me power through the worst parts just because I care about the cause. However the more specialized (in my office at least) that you get, the less pressuring your responsibilities end up. The pay + benefits are good, and if you stick to it I think there's room to move up. I made very little when I first started and now my income supports me + my partner. I'd say it depends a lot on which area of the law you're going into to be honest.

enjoyed reading your writeup on Chess Story! i was approaching things more with a focus more on the rise of the nazis, so it was very interesting considering your perspective on post-WW1 international tensions (something i'm not too well-read on tbh). also, cool site!
